Abstract
The recent advancement and innovation in the field of nanotechnology brings new dimensions in its applicative potential in the food sector. The amalgamation of nanotechnology with food sector by applying the bio-based nanoparticles (NPs) enables the prospective application of these NPs in the areas of the food packaging, processing, enhancement of food nutraceuticals, food safety and detection of adulterants in food and food products. The biosafety aspect of NPs towards food science gets understood through applications of microbial-based NPs. The NPs at smaller concentrations, their bio-benignity and increased bioavailability enhances the application of microbial-based NPs in food sector. This chapter discusses the prospective applications of various forms of microbial-based NPs and their
