Applications of Nanomaterials in Food Safety

Abstract
Over the past few decades, the expeditious growth of nanotechnology and nanoscience has offered possibilities for the expansion of food packaging solutions as well as new sensing platforms. The use of nanotechnology in the food industry to extend shelf life and cut waste of food has significantly improved the quality of food and safety issues. The usage of nanomaterials and nanoparticles can provide mechanical strength, increase water repellency, improve gas barrier properties, and deliver scavenging and antimicrobial activity to food packaging. These nanomaterials can be integrated with biological and chemical sensors, empowering the development and design of rapid sensors and analytical devices to detect pathogenic contaminants, toxins, and allergens along with assessing the freshness of
