Abstract
Application of edible films as well as coatings for packaging of foods has gained increasing attention as a sustainable replacement of customary plastic packaging. Edible coatings, either wrapped around food products or applied directly to their surfaces, offer a protective barrier that helps in the upkeep of quality and increasing the keeping quality of food (Han, 2014; Khan et al., 2023). The growing focus on sustainability has driven the food manufacturing industry to explore creative packaging alternatives, with edible films emerging as a viable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional packaging.
