Mushrooms have emerged as a promising sustainable material for food packaging applications due to their biodegradability, renewability, and unique structural properties. The cultivation of mycelium, the vegetative part of fungi, enables the production of a versatile material that can be molded into various shapes, offering a viable alternative to traditional plastic packaging. Mycelium-based packaging materials are not only environmentally friendly but also exhibit desirable mechanical properties, such as strength and flexibility, making them suitable for protecting a wide range of food products.
